A brick fireplace with a glowing fire, five candles on the mantel and the warm feeling of a winter evening at home. This is one of the larger pieces in our Christmas collection and makes a beautiful centerpiece for a holiday wall. The brick pattern repeats, which makes counting easier once you get going; stitch the bricks row by row, then the mantel, and save the flames for last so the bright yellows and oranges sit right on top. Add hanging stockings in backstitch if you want to make it your own. The finished fireplace is about 5.1 × 7 in (13 × 18 cm) on 14 count Aida. Because it is taller than it is wide, it suits a portrait frame on a side table or a narrow wall. Stitch it in early autumn and it will be ready to hang by December.
