A classic decorated Christmas tree in deep greens, with golden garlands, red and gold baubles and a shining star on top. Drawn in a soft, embroidered style by our own artists, it has the cozy, hand-made feel of a vintage holiday card. At about 60 stitches wide it fits a 6 in (15 cm) hoop on 14 count Aida, which makes it a lovely size for a framed holiday piece or a pillow front. Work the tree in bands from the bottom up, then add the garland and ornaments on top so the colors stay crisp. The finished design measures about 4.3 × 6.4 in (11 × 16 cm) on 14 count Aida. Try it on a soft red or dark green fabric for a richer look, and add the year in backstitch underneath to make it a keepsake you can date and collect each Christmas.
